With an l92 you also have to deal with the variable valve train crap I believe. Not good. I think an iron block weighs about 80 pounds more. Dec 29, 3. I would go carb'd if I got a LQ4, but I would probably stay with the electronics if I snagged an all aluminum engine. There seems to be plenty of people out there that have done it and enough support from the industry as far as parts needed to make the conversion easy enough.

The biggest thing with using an iron block with FI or nitrous is that it helps hold the heads down with the huge cylinder pressures that are created in those situations My iron block with ARP studs and a shot made approx hp at the crank - and not just a couple passes on it had about passes on it when I sold it running great But to better address your original question - 80lbs is a good bit of weight.
I would go with an aluminum block if you can do it, but it really comes down to your budget and what you find for deals. Last edited: Dec 29, Dec 29, 5. Messages: 26, Likes Received: 7. Dec 29, 6. I'm not looking for a drag strip car.
